Query for a family member

Is it possible for Tier 2 Dependent's to delay entry to UK say 6 months after the start date on the dependents Visa (3 years)?

The initial visa is only valid for 90 days. If the dependent doesn't enter the UK, a new visa vignette has to be applied for.

Note that PBS dependents are also subject to the 180 days absence limit.
