I have a question related to this issue and will appreciate if I can receive some guidance.
My wife and I live together in a flat which we rent privately via a lettings agent. The tenancy agreement is in my name and not in my wife's name. This has been the case since 2018. Council tax and utility bills are in our joint names.
My question is regarding the application question about status of accommodation. The question gives 3 options:
- I own the property
I rent the property
I neither own nor rent the property.
Should we select "I rent the property" or "I neither rent nor own the property"? Confusion arises because the tenancy agreement is in my name and not my wife's name. If we select neither rent nor own (as the tenancy agreement is in my name), the evidence requested is mortgage statement, copy of ID of owner and letter of permission to stay. We are unlikely to get the first two documents and therefore inclined to go for second option from the above list. Will this cause issues in terms of false information if we choose second option?
