Renewal of Spousal Visa

Hi,

I need some advice on the following please:

My wife was granted 2.5yrs on the 10 year partner route ( they didn’t approve the 5yr route as a parent as I didn’t meet the requirements) back in 2017 and is now up for renewal in April.

1. Does it make a difference if I switch to the 5 yr FLR FP or FLR FM route..as I meet the 5yr requirements now.

2. Do they take the original passport and can she travel when applying for the renewal as my wife was planning on traveling to see her sick father in July or would she have to wait for the decision.

1. If you switch to the 5 year route, you start a new 5 year period again from zero.

2. No originals are sent anymore, it is all uploaded digitally. No she cannot travel, if she leaves the UK, her application will be considered withdrawn and she loses the fee.

Correct me if I’m wrong but even if she starts from zero for 5yrs it’s still better than sticking to the 10yr route..
Also shall i apply for the FLR FP so as a parent ?
