Citizenship eligibility

Post by LondonGuy121 » Thu Feb 11, 2021 1:09 pm

Hi All,

My wife has recently received ILR after spending 5 years as a dependent. I have recently received my naturalisation ceritificate and read somewhere that my wife can apply for natueralisation immediately instead of waiting for 1 year. Below is the timeline

Me: Naturalisatiion certificate date - 21/01/2021
Wife: ILR application date:- 24/12/2020
ILR application approval: - 07/02/2021

Can my wife immediately apply for naturalisation given I had my citizenship certificate when her ILR was approved?

Yes. The requirment to skip 12 months is simply to be married to a British citizen when you apply for citizenship. It makes no difference how long the British spouse has been British.
Char (CR001 not Casa)
