Collecting biometrics in London for Tier 2 visa

Post by Mothratito » Sat Jul 16, 2022 12:24 pm

Hi All,

I applied for my skilled worker visa from the US, and was told I can complete my BRP by providing biometrics once I arrive in London.

But now I've been told I must return to the US just to give fingerprints etc ... Does anyone know if any place still collects these in the UK?

Or if they US embassy could help?

Please share any info on this ASAP as I'm anxious to begin working and don't want to have to return to the US!

Thank you,
Andy

Told by who?
Do you have a CoS?
When you applied online in the US have you paid the visa fee and the Health Charge and if you have didn't the application process ask you to provide biometrics at a visa application centre in the US?
Have you entered the UK as a visitor?

Yes I entered as a visitor and was told by my University HR I could provide biometrics here in London.

I paid all the visa and NHS fees already since I applied on may 31.

Do you have any recommendations for completing biometrics in London?

Many thanks
Andy

You would have been directed to book a biometric appointment shortly after submission. You have a limited time to do this

You are unlikely to submit in the uk as the Biometrics instructions are provided after submitting an online application within the uk.

There might have been a misunderstanding about BRP (which you collect once visa has been granted and you arrive in the UK on a skilled worker visa) and enrolling Biometrics arls part of your application abroad

Your application in the US is not complete until you enroll biometrics and you will unfortunately have to rerun to the US to do this. You also need to be in the US for the initial 90 day visa vignette to be put in your passport and need this to be able to enter the UK, collect your BRP card and to start working.

Sign-in to your online application and check if you are still within the time limit for providing biometrics (in the US). If you are outside the time limit vary your application which means submitting a new application that will override the previous application (you'll have to pay the fees again but the fees for the initial application will be refunded in due course).

Without biometrics your application is invalid.

Also, if you are in the UK as a visitor the rules don't allow you to get permission to remain as a Skilled Worker.

Ask the university HR to foot the bill for the costs of returning to the US - they provided incorrect advice.

Thank you very much for your help.

I spoke to a visa officer in person today and he thought getting a local immigration lawyer involved may be a solution to allow me to provide biometrics and complete my visa without having to return to the US.

Does anyone know if this might work?

Thanks in advance

Is that someone at the call centre you spoke to?? The call centre is outsourced to a third party company and are not ukvi staff. They also often give out incorrect information and take no responsibility for it.

You seem to want to circumvent the rules and procedures to suit you. Never a good thing to do.

Is your employer paying for the lawyer? They clearly gave you an incorrect advice from the beginning.

We don't know why you're avoiding to return to your home country and complete the process there. Hiring a lawyer for this is absolutely not necessary, and ultimately a waste of time and money.
