British Citizenship - day outside of the UK

Post by toptops » Sat Feb 11, 2023 1:31 pm

Hello,

I am planning to travel from London to Toronto on the 18th May and travelling back on the 27th May.

I know that the 18th May won't count as a day outside the UK. However on the way back ... I am leaving Toronto on the 27th May at 9pm and I will arrive in the UK one day later on the 28th at 7am.

So, should I count the 27th as a full day outside the UK? I think I should but technically the 27th is my day of travel. 9 days outside the UK I would say. What do you reckon?

Thanks,
Liam

Will it make a difference? Personally I would count the actual arrival date.
Are you expecting issues which your total absences - assuming you are applying for AN?

Hello,

No, one day more or less won't make a difference in my application. However, I want to know how I should count that.

I would say 9 days in total, count the 27th as a day outside the UK and the 28th in the UK. Any other advice are more than welcome please :)

I must not be the only guy taking a late flight and ending up coming back the next day :)

The 27th is a day of absence outside the uk. 28th not.

It is that simple.

Thank you so much for your reply!

I don't think it is easy since it says that the travel day does not count as a day outside of the UK. I do believe that is not straightforward. Nevertheless, I agree and my initial thought was 27th count as a day outside the UK. 8)

You are over thinking.

The travel day they refer to is the travel days in and out of the uk, ie the days you are physically in the uk.

I agree, I over think, like a lot of people in my situation, haha.

Thank you so much!
