Citizenship queries

Post by Saimac » Fri May 19, 2023 10:30 pm

Hi,

Just submitting the citizenship application and when it says proof of living in the UK states bank statements household bills are not proof so what evidence can you upload for the last 3 years as this was accepted for ILR.

Thanks

Sam

As ILR holder just your passport(s) covering the 3 year period required. No bills or statements.

Hello can I please check the document evidence required please as they’ve also asked to send proof of my husband self employment which we didn’t put on ILR as that was based on my employment.

For citizenship they’ve asked for:

Husbands passport issued in Pakistan
Current BrP card (ILR one)
English B1 cert
Proof of living in the uk - is this a copy of each page of his passport showing entry and exit?
Marriage or civil partnership certificate
2 referee declarations we have our friends a dental nurse and a toxicology business consultant are they ok
Proof of citizenship (I am British by birth so is passport ok)
Most recent tax year account statement and corresponding hmrc tax return as proof of self employment which we have requested from accountant
Can his self employment earning affect citizenship?

Citizenship is not an immigration application. If he has declared he is self employed for citizenship, he is expected to provide the evidence he is asked for. This is to ensure he is complying with HMRC rules etc.
For citizenship they’ve asked for:

Husbands passport issued in Pakistan
Current BrP card (ILR one) Yes
English B1 cert Yes
Proof of living in the uk - is this a copy of each page of his passport showing entry and exit? Yes
Marriage or civil partnership certificate Yes
2 referee declarations we have our friends a dental nurse and a toxicology business consultant are they ok You need one who is British 25 or older. The other must be a professional (there is a list of professions) and can be of any nationality.
Proof of citizenship (I am British by birth so is passport ok) Yes
Most recent tax year account statement and corresponding hmrc tax return as proof of self employment which we have requested from accountant
Can his self employment earning affect citizenship?
No, unless he is deceitful in his HMRC decalarations.

Can I just check as for the last 8 weeks he hasn’t worked in his current self employed role as that was interim whilst he got his taxi driver licence which he has now and is waiting till his car has passed taxi test in the next month to start work as self employed taxi driver will this cause any issues with his citizenship?

Thank you CR001 appreciate your response very nervous if doing something wrong and him getting rejected.
Especially as his own accountant queried the amounts in his current self employment role he sent him full evidence as all payments are through bank so no way you can change this hope it’s ok. Thinking would we be safer to put unemployed as that’s what he actually is until he gets back on the road in the next four weeks.

Thank you

Hi,

We have finally submitted husbands citizenship application and have biometric appointment next Tuesday. Just a quick question in terms of doc upload we are have uploaded everything as above however on the referee docs it states name and dob to back of photo and glue in place:

“On the back of the applicant’s photograph, please write
their full name and date of birth. The photograph should
then be glued into the space aside.”

So we planned on taking a photo and uploading the doc to UKVAS so what’s the purpose of above if HO don’t actually see this. Unless I’ve missed some guidance and this docs need to be taken to UKVAS appointment?

Thanks

Sam

Don’t bother with name and Dob on back of photo… that goes back to the paper days. Just stick the picture in the form and load when signed.

Hi,

Thanks for that have uploaded all requested docs just wondering for proof of my British citizenship I’ve uploaded my passport do I need to upload my birth certificate ? It does say one proof required.

Just thinking on the application form ask where you were born so wondered if BC was better proof?

Thanks
Sam

If only proof needed submit one document - passport or naturalisation certificate. Your place of birth doesn't matter - you are a British citizen.
