Visa for child born outside United Kingdom

Hello,

Me and my husband have ILR in UK. We are planning to go to India for delivery of baby.
As baby will be born outside UK, baby won't be entitled for UK citizenship.
In this scenario, We will be applying for Indian Passport for baby. But one thing I am not sure about is which VISA to apply for baby to enter in UK. Do will need to apply ILR from India for baby, or some other visa category. Could you please guide me on this.

The mentioned link states "You may not need a family visa if at least one of your parents has indefinite leave to remain or proof of permanent residence. Check if you can apply to settle in the UK."

So I am confused!

If my understanding is right.. Child settlement visa comes under family visa category.
So while travelling from India to Uk do we have to first apply for family visa for baby and once we are in UK we can apply for ILR for baby?

You apply for and wait for a visa BEFORE travelling.

Child will likely be granted indefinite leave to enter.

It is an expensive application, visa fee and ihs, totalling about £3000

Cheaper to be born in the UK and apply for a British passport directly as the child will be British automatically if UK born to parents holding ilr.
