If you switch their visa category after you get ILR, it resets their ILR clock to zero and a new 5 year route to ILR (2 x 2.5 year visas).
I will apply for my GTV now for 3 years, based on this I will get my ILR by June 2025. I ask my family to apply for their visa as GTV dependent for three years. This means that they will have a dependent visa until October 2026. By this time they would have spent 4 years and 4 months as my dependent.
I did clearly state that "after you get ILR and before their visas expire"! If you apply for an extension BEFORE you get ILR, they will NOT get an extension that is dated after your visa expiry. So you need to plan accordingly. A PBS Dependent cannot have a visa that is valid for longer than the main PBS visa holder. What you are asking me to do is to apply for their extension before I get my ILR i.e. before June 2025 My question is it possible to extend their visa as GTV dependent for another 3 years which is until June 2028 ?
Your choice.or shall I apply for GTV for 5 years for both me and my family ? What do you suggest ?
