First adult South African passport

Post by jkproperties » Tue Sep 26, 2023 5:37 pm

Hi, all,

Our children’s current passports expire this month.

We have applied for our children’s adult passports in June, we have a holiday booked for December to South Africa.

Application was at South African House in London.
What are current timelines being experienced?
Are there any acceleration options available?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you,

It can take up to 6 months, sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes a bit longer.

No acceleration option unfortunately.

Presumably ID books were applied for too, as this is usually mandatory for first adult passport applications and could cause a delay.

Thank you for your reply,
Yes, ID books too.
That’s really frustrating.
Could the children enter with a U.K. passport and proof of application? I know I’m clutching at straws…

My new Non SA Citizen ID book I received earlier this year with my new ID number, took 5 months.

My daughters ID book and first adult passport a few years ago took 6.5 months.

Ok, our 6 months mark coincide s with our travel dates, we didn’t realize the turnaround was so slow.

They are produced in Pretoria, and there is no haste.

Would an agency locally be able to assist?

Not sure given you applied a few months ago already. You can try.
