ILR savings amount and general questions

Post by Edwardo » Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:10 pm

Hello all - my wife's further leave to remain visa is expiring in a month, she has been here 5 years (62 months) and so we will apply for ILR.

Can someone confirm is the savings amount for this visa £45,000 or so, as opposed to the £62,500 I had to have for at least 6 months on the other visas?

Also, are we to use the 'apply as a partner (family visa)' for the online application?

Just want to check as while being happy this should be the last expense for quite a while, we do not want to rush and get it wrong!

I am British, wife is from Asia and she came here on a spouse visa 5 years ago. We have a child but he has a British passport so is not part of the application.

Thanks - always have appreciated this site as it gives such good help.

You need to show at least an annual income of £18,600 per person to be granted ILR. To use your cash savings, you need an extra £16,000 on top of that. If you do not want to show any income and want to rely fully on your cash savings, you need minimum cash savings of £16,000 + £18,600 = £34,600, held in the bank over the last six months

Apply using form SET(M): https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/set-m

Cash savings bank statement age

Post by Edwardo » Sat Feb 17, 2024 12:01 pm

Hello and sorry for what is likely to have been answered before, is just my wife wants me to double check.

We are about to pay for her ILR visa and my bank statements cover a year previous to Jan 24th, 2024. I am of the belief so long as the final date on the statement is no longer than 28 days from the application date (Feb 17th) then all is well?

My wife wonders if we should also send one dated Jan 31st 'to be sure' :) I am not sure sending excessive documents is advisable!

Can you put her mind at rest and confirm my statements dated Jan 24th (24 days ago) are fine?

Thank you.

Fine. They cannot be older than 28 days (the most recent date on the statement) before the date you submit and pay online.

You have already been advised that only 6 months bank statements are needed if you have held the savings for a minimum of 6 months.
