Queries on the citizenship form

Moved from the ILR board to this

The form is very self explanatory but I had a few queries:

1. The asks if the applicant has made any immigration / visa applications to the UK - is this in the lifetime of the applicant or qualifying period?
If lifetime then I assume I’d have to include my husband’s student visas which were beyond 5 years

2. With regard to the referee declaration form, does it have to be a wet signature or can a digital apply ie digital as typed “John Smith”

3. Evidence for proof of residence - the form states that if the applicant does *not* have passport stamps covering the qualifying period then they should submit letters such as P60s etc.
My husband’s qualifying period is the immediate last 3 years, we have passports covering all entry and exit stamps. Is this sufficient / all we need to provide for proof of residence or should we include P60s etc?

4. If we have to include proof of residence in the form of letters, is it the same as what I’ve gone through with ILR, ie a good spread over 3 years?

Great thank you! He has a Pakistani passport which isn’t chipped therefore all 4 holidays have exit / entry stamps on his passport. I will write a cover letter bringing their attention to each one so it’s very clear.

With regard to providing lifetime visa applications, the form clearly asks: date of application IF KNOWN, reference number IF KNOWN etc etc. for the ones where we won’t have this information, is it sufficient to provide the type of application only ie ‘Tier 1 Student’ ‘Tier 1 student renewal’ (I know the names aren’t right, just as an example but I’m sure I have the names for his entry clearance somewhere)

And what do you mean ‘by the mat?’

the referee forms will have to be printed and signed I think as I think the digital signatures would be typed not written digitally (if that’s what you mean). Might get my friends to test a digital signature to see if it can match their passport. Very archaic process.

Oh final question, the form asks for details of trips outside of the UK. I’ve only listed trips from the 3 year qualifying period, is that right?

If you don’t know leave blank or put n/a.

Qualifying period - as of today would start from 12 April 2022 - thankfully our turkey holiday return was 19 March 2022. Since then we’ve had two holidays in total 14 days under. That’s okay right?

Back again. So with regard to full immigration history, I am able to provide the last 5 years of Spouse visa applications including references and application dates. The form asks for:

• Name under which application made
• Date of application – if known
• Reference - if known
• Date of biometrics - if known

Here’s where I’m a little unstuck as I can probably confirm my husband’s student visa history but not exact day/ month of application, and definitely not reference numbers or date of biometrics. Here’s his history and how I’ve filled the section in

1. Tier 4 General Student
Date of application – around 2011
In the reference number section, I have written “Tier 4 General Student,” otherwise providing name under which application is made is meaningless as it doesn’t tell them anything

2. Tier 4 General Student Leave to remain with new Sponsor
Date of application – maybe around 2013
In the reference number section, I have written “Leave to remain,” otherwise providing name under which application is made is meaningless as it doesn’t tell them anything

3. Further leave to remain with new Sponsor (I think we’d call this further LTR)
Date of application – maybe around 2014
Not granted, left the UK to exercise EU treaty rights (not related to spouse visa, just context)

My questions –

1. Is how I’ve answered the form acceptable?
2. Do I have to include applications 2 and 3?
3. Will it be viewed negatively that I can’t confirm exact date references or date of biometrics? The form does say “if known” and I assume they would have access to his full immigration history anyway

Obviously, you are submitting an application to the same government organisation that ALL immigration applications have been made to. If you don't have all the detail, it has NO effect on the citizenship application but you should complete as much as possible.

The reference number would be the GWF or BRP number.

If there are details the applicant can't remember, approximate dates are fine. It clearly says 'IF KNOWN'!

Hi CR001, I don't think I explained myself very well. Let me try again.

Where the form asks for name under which application is made, yes I have typed husband's name. But under section where it says reference number, as I don't have those for the student visa history, I've instead typed in the application it was ie Tier 4 General Student.

The only detail I would have is a guesstimate of when the applications were made so I could only fill in "name under which application made" and insert the year we think the application it was.

From your reply it seems that should be sufficient as they - as you say - can cross reference anyway
