Global Talent Visa – Impact of No Salary/Low Salary on ILR & Citizenship Eligibility

Post by sp77 » Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:51 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m currently on a Global Talent Visa (Exceptional Talent route) and will be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in September 2025.

Here’s my current situation:
- I was working full-time at a company until 30 May 2025.
- I have now left to focus on my startup full-time.
- I’ve received an offer from a small company with a salary of around £45K, which offers flexibility to continue working on my startup in parallel.
- I may not accept the salaried job and may not have any salaried income from June to September 2025, depending on how things evolve.

My questions:
1. Will having no salary (or very low salary) between June and September 2025 impact my Global Talent Visa status, ILR eligibility, or future citizenship application?
2. Is there a minimum salary threshold I must meet while on a Global Talent Visa, particularly in the context of applying for ILR or citizenship?

I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions from those who have gone through a similar path or have clarity on the policy.

Thanks in advance!

For citizenship (naturalisation) there are no financial requirements, such as earnings, taxes paid, benefits received or not, etc.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
