UK Naturalisation: One incorrect address on P60 and Referees

Hi all,

I will soon be applying for naturalisation through the Tier 2 visa → ILR route, and I have a few questions about the first UK passport application process.

According to the official guidance:
“You’ll need both:
– your naturalisation or registration certificate
– the passport you used to come into the UK or the foreign passport you’re included on”

Here’s my situation:
• I will be getting a new foreign passport soon, as my current one is about to expire. This new passport won’t have any UK visas or entry/exit stamps.
• I also have an old passport (now void/cancelled) that contains my Tier 2 visa, UK entry/exit stamps, and was used during my ILR application.

Since my old passport has all the relevant UK immigration history, and my new one doesn’t, I’m wondering:
Should I submit just the old (void) passport, or both the old and new passports?

Has anyone been in a similar situation and could share what worked for them?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Submit both old and new passport.

The normal requirement is to send originals only. If you send copies you will have to provide an explanation.

You need to send originals. Apologies I misread your initial post, if your old passport is void you won't need to send that in.

If you apply online you’ll be told what documents you need as part of your application.

You’ll need:

your naturalisation or registration certificate
the passport you used to come into the UK or the foreign passport you’re included on
your current passport

You need to send originals. Apologies I misread your initial post, if your old passport is void you won't need to send that in.

Apologies but my brain isn't helping me here - for naturaliusation, you need to send scanned copies of both these passports.

Once your application is approved and you have your naturalisation certificate, you will need to send the original of your latest passport only.

I’m currently applying for British citizenship and have a question about my address.

I’m currently living at “7 Example Road,” but I’ll be moving soon to “7A Example Road” during the application process. It’s a different address but still the same building and local council area.

I want to make sure there won’t be any issues with my application processing.

All communications are now via email. No need to advise new address.

I would communicate the address change just in case they need to have updated records while processing the application, but it won't be needed for communication.

Hi all,

I'm currently preparing my naturalisation application and gathering my P60s as supporting documents.
I noticed that the address on my P60 for the 2023 tax year shows my previous address, while all the other years have my current, correct address.
Will this cause any issues with my application?
Should I explain the discrepancy in a cover letter, or is it minor enough to ignore?

For my referees, both are from my company, one is a manager and the other is a director position. Our company is VAT-registered. Do I need to mention that the company is VAT-registered on the referee forms or elsewhere in the application?

I have a quick question before submitting my British citizenship application today. Both of my referees work at the same company, they are the Director and the Manager of my department. Both are British citizens.

Would this be acceptable, or could it potentially cause any issues with my application?

OK as long as not related to each other by blood or marriage.
