I came to the UK in December 2018 on a Tier 4 Student visa with my wife and two children as dependants. In April 2022, I switched to the Skilled Worker visa, and in October 2022 we all switched to the Global Talent visa.
My wife and I were granted ILR on 9 June 2025 under the Global Talent route, while our two children received ILR in January 2026 under the SET(F) route. We have all lived continuously in the UK for more than five years.
My wife and I are planning to apply for British citizenship together in June 2026, and I would appreciate clarification on the following:
1.Can my wife and I apply for British citizenship after 9 June 2026, which will be 12 months after receiving our ILR, assuming we continue to meet all other requirements such as residency and good character? Also, are we able to submit our applications jointly at the same time?
2.What documents are normally required for our citizenship applications, considering that I am employed and paying taxes in the UK while my wife is a house wife caring for our children?
3.Once my wife and I become British citizens, can our children apply for citizenship immediately, even if 12 months have not passed since their ILR was granted in January 2026? Our children are under 18 and have lived and attended school in the UK continuously since 2018.
I would appreciate your guidance on the correct timing and process for both the adult and children’s applications.
