You're entitled to benefits as you're a British citizen so it won't affect you as a sponsor.donnabrian wrote:i am a british citizen and my fiancee is from mauritius, we r goin to mauritius to get married and then he will apply for a spouse visa to come to the uk. However I have a 6yr old daughter and can therefore only work 16hrs a week so am claiming tax credits. How will this affect me being a sponsor? as soon as we are married and come back to the uk I will be able to work full time as my husband will take over childcare so we will not be claiming any benefits.
