Hello Members,
I need you expert advise on the following.
My wife and I are on Tier 1visa (switched from HSMP). My wife (doctor) is the main sponser. Our 5 years complete in Aug 2011.
we are expecting our first baby this october (2010). as per family/cultural traditions, we expect the mom and the child to fly to india with 2 weeks of the birth of the child.
i know that it takes a maximum of 2 weeks to issue an indian passport (this time includes the birth certificate and the passport) . My concern is the baby's UK visa (Tier 1 dependent). as i read through the forums that it takes 6 weeks to issue a UK visa, which in my case is a long time for the mom and the child to be here in UK.My question is
1. can the baby leave the country without a UK visa. atleast by 2 weeks baby will have an indian passport?
2. can i apply for the baby's visa from India after their arrival in india (UK consulate in Mumbai. that is where my wife will be travelling). ?
3. Or can i ask my wife to courier her and the baby's passport to UK and i will apply for the visa here in UK home office as i will not be travelling with my wife to india.?
4. if both option 2 and 3 is possible, then which is the most viable option?
I would really appreciate if you could advice on the above.

2. can i apply for the baby's visa from India after their arrival in india (UK consulate in Mumbai. that is where my wife will be travelling). ? You should apply for visa in India and without it you will not be able to bring your baby back into UK
3. Or can i ask my wife to courier her and the baby's passport to UK and i will apply for the visa here in UK home office as i will not be travelling with my wife to india.? No this is not possible
4. if both option 2 and 3 is possible, then which is the most viable option? Only option 2 is possible
I would really appreciate if you could advice on the above.
