I will be having my citizenship ceremony next Wednesday. I've just found out that I now need to go to Germany on Thursday and Friday.
My home country allows dual citizenship, so my current passport will still be valid. I am signed up for IRIS, but I imagine that I'm not allowed to use the system again until I get my British passport since the conditions of my leave to remain (ILR) will no longer be relevant nor valid.
So...I'm intending to just take my passport (the one with ILR in it) and my naturalisation certificate with me on my short trip. I reckon that my questions are:
1) Do I need to fill out a landing card? I would imagine that I'm no longer subject to the Immigration Act 1971, even though I don't have a EU passport yet.
2) Which queue do I need to join upon return? UK/EU or non-EU?
I've read the thread started by Dawie on this issue, but those two above questions weren't resolved. In the end, he used his ILR in his South African passport although the ILR was no longer valid, although apparently he wasn't caught out. I'd like to stay on the right side of the law and procedure if at all possible!
