English Language requirement for spouse visa extension as a dependent of a British citizen.

Hi

I was given a 2.5 years visa in 2019 and its expiring in March 2022.

We will be applying as a spouse visa extension as a dependent of British citizen.

I found a link as below,

Can you please confirm if I am on the right track/link?


I checked that they need to pass the English language test A1 or A2.

About the test, the information is as below.

"if you want to settle permanently in the UK within 5 years
You may have to pass a higher CEFR level if you want to stay in the UK after 2.5 years. What you need to do depends on what CEFR level you passed for your first visa.

If you passed:

level A1 you’ll need to pass level A2 in speaking and listening
level A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2 you can use the test again for your application if it’s still on the list of approved English language tests
If you were given an exemption, you’ll need to pass a test at level A1."

They didn't pass any test before. Do they still need to pass A2

Can you please let me know what test they need to pass.

A2 test is required for an extension.

B1 can also be done, which will be required for ilr later

Which one is easier.
Do I need to do any other test at the time of ILR after 2.5 years of extension.
