ILR vignette in old passport and BRP

Hi,
I received ILR in 2008 and I recently transferred my ILR to a BRP. My question is, if I lose my BRP card will I still be able to enter the UK using the ILR vignette in my old passport?

Yes, if you can prove that you are a returning resident and haven't been absent from the UK for over two years.

Also in all cases the present passport should be valid (unexpired).
