Before I am not 100% certain that all the Schengen states have implemented the Directive properly, and that all the airlines are aware of our rights I won't go anywhere without making sure I have a visa. Saves just so much hassle. There is nothing worse then going away and having to deal and argue ...

5 year visa has been granted to my wife today. :wink:
She did not have a prior residence ìn the EU.
Please note that she had twice her residence visa renewed in Ireland, 1 year on both ocassions before all this EU1 thing.

And for EU1, the reckonable residence is only 3 years

Irish do not recognise it like other countries may do, therefore short of full rights.
Is marriage the easiest or only option?

Don't know...only condition is that you should not be a 'burden on the state'
I assume that all usual documents(passports,employment details,rent agreement, etc.) should be sent except the actual EU1 form.
