Sponsored Visa and Family Info required

Post by KCN » Mon Mar 09, 2015 1:31 pm

I had read a few threads and cannot find answers to my specific questions.

1. I have a job offer for permanent employment. Is the Maximum length visa I can get up to 5 years?

2. After 5 years on the Tier 2 visa i can apply for the ILR. What do I do between the time my Tier 2 has expired and my ILR has not been granted? Do I extend the Tier 2 for a sixth year?

3. Can I enter the UK on the Tier 2 and have my wife and kids join me a month later?

Please can i have more details on my questions. All the information I have found so far is quite vague.

1.
2. Some clarity please. So if my Tier 2 visa expires 01/01/2020 can I remain in the UK after this date, as long as I have applied for the IRL. Do I need to extend the Tier 2?
3. How long before they are required to join me?

1. ILR means indefinite leave to remain. If you get ILR, then you can remain as long as you want.
2. they can join anytime as long as you are already in UK.

Your existing visa status will continue if you have applied for ILR, which you can only do up to 28 days before the 5 year residence period. You will also have the option of applying by post or applying in person for a same day decision. You will not need to extend your visa to cover time while you wait for ILR.
3. How long before they are required to join me?
If the plan is for the whole family to get ILR, best they arrive with you or as soon as possible after you otherwise they will have to apply for an extension to make up 5 years from date of arrival in the UK.

Am I reading this correctly, I can get the IRL Accepted and Approved in one day?

So the current plan is for the whole family to apply for ILR. So what is safe difference in arrival dates?

Am I reading this correctly, I can get the IRL Accepted and Approved in one day? Yes, it costs more but most people do this as postal can take up to 6 months or more. Some people also apply for ILR as main applicant and then do postal for their dependents once the main applicant is approved to save some money.

So the current plan is for the whole family to apply for ILR. So what is safe difference in arrival dates? Ideally, they need to arrive with you or very soon after you so that all of you complete 5 years residence at the same time, otherwise they will end up having to apply for a Tier 2 extension just to cover say 2 or 3 months (at a big cost). Each person applying for ILR needs to meet the 5 year residence requirement.

The above all is obviously true for today.
The rules regarding the ILR will apply what the rules will be at the time. And trust me, no one knows what the rules will be at the time.
