Please can i have more details on my questions. All the information I have found so far is quite vague.iworker wrote:1. yes
2. you are covered under tier 2 rules provided u apply before your leave expires.
3. yes
Your existing visa status will continue if you have applied for ILR, which you can only do up to 28 days before the 5 year residence period. You will also have the option of applying by post or applying in person for a same day decision. You will not need to extend your visa to cover time while you wait for ILR.2. Some clarity please. So if my Tier 2 visa expires 01/01/2020 can I remain in the UK after this date, as long as I have applied for the IRL. Do I need to extend the Tier 2?
If the plan is for the whole family to get ILR, best they arrive with you or as soon as possible after you otherwise they will have to apply for an extension to make up 5 years from date of arrival in the UK.3. How long before they are required to join me?
Am I reading this correctly, I can get the IRL Accepted and Approved in one day?Your existing visa status will continue if you have applied for ILR, which you can only do up to 28 days before the 5 year residence period. So the current plan is for the whole family to apply for ILR. So what is safe difference in arrival dates? If the plan is for the whole family to get ILR, best they arrive with you or as soon as possible after you otherwise they will have to apply for an extension to make up 5 years from date of arrival in the UK.

Some people also apply for ILR as main applicant and then do postal for their dependents once the main applicant is approved to save some money.Your existing visa status will continue if you have applied for ILR, which you can only do up to 28 days before the 5 year residence period. Ideally, they need to arrive with you or very soon after you so that all of you complete 5 years residence at the same time, otherwise they will end up having to apply for a Tier 2 extension just to cover say 2 or 3 months (at a big cost).
