I am a US citizen who has recently been refused entry to the UK. They turned me away and put a big rejected stamp with an X in my passport.
I am now planing on obtaining a Tier 4 Student Visa (General) for this year's intake at Universities in the UK. On paper I am eligible. I have the fees ready to pay for the visa. I have an offer for a postgraduate degree from a good University. I have only spent 12 months in the UK as a student previously, for a different postgraduate course. The course I am now being offered is an extension of my earlier course, so I can demonstrate educational progression. The course is also full time.
Will the entry refusal adversely affect my Student Visa application? Should I try and get a new passport before applying for my visa? I know they have records so getting rid of my passport won't matter to the application, but it might be better not to have the big X in my passport? Any constructive and useful advice is appreciated.
