Engagement visa for Fiance

Post by tripas33 » Wed Jun 24, 2015 1:16 pm

Hello All,

Need your assistance again on how to apply for UK visa for my Fiance. It will be of great help if you can provide inputs.

I am presently on UK permanent visa (ILR). We got engaged in India couple of weeks back and we have planned for marriage after 2 months in India. I am thinking to apply for engagement visa in the mean time so that after marriage me and my wife can fly together to UK from Mumbai. I am unable to find clear guidelines for engagement visa and what documents are required to apply for the same. I also want to know will it be easy to migrate to a spouse visa category in UK after reaching there and registering marriage in UK ? Please help.

Many Thanks
Tripas

As you are not British there isn't a suitable visa for what you propose.

You wouldn't qualify for a fiance (engagement) visa as you will already be legally married and unable to marry again in the UK. Assuming you meet all the requirements, you should apply for a Spouse Settlement visa after the wedding.
https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/overview

You will see in the link that the visa fee will be £956.00 and in addition you will also have to pay the new NHS Surcharge of £600 online before submitting your visa application.

Can those on ILR sponsor a fiance visa? I've no idea!

Sorry, I confused the issue. You can either;

1. Marry in India and apply for spouse visa from India on form VAF4A

2. Bring her here on fiancee visa, marry and apply for spouse visa in UK on form FLR(M)

So have you decided to marry in the UK? :? That would require two visa applications. A fiance visa @ £956 and then after the UK wedding which must take place within 6 months, you'll have to apply for a 2.5 year FLR(M) extension @ £649 + the NHS Surcharge of £500.

Hello,

My aim is to utilise the time between now and marriage to process the visa so after marriage I don't have to do paper work.I don't know if there is an option to register marriage in UK after getting married in India to process the visa , if there is I can apply for Fiance visa now as I have all documents and pics from the engagement.

Second option I have is to get married in a court so I will have a marriage certificate. However the traditional wedding will take place at a later date. If I go with this option , I will not be able to submit some documents like...

Wedding Invitation card.
traditional wedding reception pictures. ( But I will have pictures of court marriage).

I don't know if the above documents are mandatory for visa processing ?
I have documents and pictures of engagement.

Please guide.

regards,

Wedding documents for UK spouse visa

Post by tripas33 » Thu Jun 25, 2015 4:24 pm

Hello Guys,
Need your help again on application for UK dependent/spouse visa.I am presently on Permanent residence/ILR UK visa. I recently got engaged. My Fiance is in India and we have planned for a wedding date after 2 months. I am of the view to utilise the time before wedding and get the UK dependent visa processed for my would be wife.As per marriage rules in India I can get register for court marriage . wherein me and my fiance will be legally married and hence will get a marriage certificate while traditional wedding will take place at a later date.In this case I won't be able to submit the Wedding invitation card and traditional wedding pics as documents to support marriage. To prove marriage , I will have 1) Marriage certificate from the competent authority 2) Pics taken during court marriage.
Has anyone adopted this procedure for processing the UK visa or do you think its a correct way to apply for visa and save time ?

Many Thanks
Tripas

The marriage certificate together with the photos taken on the day should be fine.

It appears you might be misunderstanding what the fiance visa is. It is not a visa to start the process and get it before marrying in India. A fiance visa is what you apply for when you are getting married in the UK. It has nothing to do with marriage in India.

If you are not getting married in the UK, you will have to wait till you are married in India and then your spouse will have to apply for a spouse visa. There is no simple why to 'not do paperwork' or speed things up.

Format for accommodation proof for Spouse UK visa

Post by tripas33 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 12:20 pm

Hello All,
Need your help once again.
I am on ILR visa in UK. I have to apply for dependent visa for my wife who is in India.
I was earlier on Tier-1 (general) visa.

As a proof of accommodation , the family who I stay with in UK have agreed to provide me a letter saying they can provide accommodation to me and my wife initially for few weeks till I find an independent place. They have also agreed to give me a copy of their agreement. They have rented the property which is 3 bed room house. They have 2 kids of 4 and 6 years. The house is big and they are okay to rent 1 double bed room to me and my wife.
Do you think , this proof of accommodation along with the agreement copy is okay for visa processing ?
If yes , can you provide me the formation of the letter which I can send with my application to UKBA ?

Warm Regards,
trips

Tripas

As this family are not the homeowners, but rent the property, the owner will have to provide written confirmation that you and your wife are allowed to live in the property as a minimum. You might also need to provide documentation proving that the landlord owns the home.
