Well it's been almost 2 years since I have done my biometrics at The Post Office in Liverpool and nothing.
Some woman from the Asylum Claim department called about 3 months ago and asked if I was willing to give permission for her to talk to my Dr. I explained that as long as she sent a letter I would look it over, and if I felt it was in order indeed give permission. Well she sent the letter and it was fine so I gave it to my GP and told him it was OK to talk to her about my physical and mental health issues.
I heard nothing until 3 days ago. I received an email from the Home Office with this attachment
"Thank you for your application for permission to stay in the UK.
As part of your application you must have your biometrics (scanned fingerprints
and photograph) taken.
If you do not give your biometric information your application will be rejected as
invalid. This will apply even if you have provided all the other relevant
information, documentation and payment to validate your application.
You now have 45 working days from the date of this notification in which
to make and attend an appointment at a United Kingdom Visa Application
Service (UKVCAS) location and enrol your biometric information.
You can do this by returning to your online application and following the
instructions to book an appointment at a UKVCAS, or if you have already
registered a UKVCAS account you can access this account to book an
appointment.
Once you have booked your appointment, please make every effort to
attend. If you do not book an appointment and enrol your biometric information
and provide the required documents your application may be rejected as invalid.
If there are particular circumstances that mean you are unable to make an
appointment to enrol your biometric information within the specified time frame,
you must call 08000 55 63 55 and explain why you are unable to do so. We
may request more information and evidence about why you are unable to enrol
your biometric information.
If you no longer want to continue with your application, please visit this
link

The next section sets out how to make a biometric enrolment appointment, and
what you can expect when you attend.
Yours sincerely"
My question is this with all the scams going on since Covid hit, does this seem like the type of attachment that the Home Office normally sends?
I STILL haven't had even ONE Asylum hearing and I have been in the UK for 2 years and 3 months.
I will of course be calling the Home Office tomorrow to be sure that this woman did in fact send this email. Because when I went to the website all the open appointments cost at minimum £69. I hope it is true, fingers crossed, but of course me being an American I am naturally skeptical.
Also If I do get a BRP with permission to stay, what EXACTLY does that mean? Is there an expiration date, would it be an Indefinite Leave to Stay? My partner and I have been living together, as husband and wife, for over two years and hope to get married. If anyone could help clarify any of this for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Kym
