They sent the letter to the UK address that I am residing with my fiancee (he's a British citizen). They asked me to put my name, date of birth, nationality and reference number on the back of the photos. They have not asked for anything else and I had applied for asylum back in July and have not had an interview yet.

Hi
First off thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated. I am a 47 year old American citizen and came over to visit with my fiancée (we met online) and to see England. I have a valid passport (it's brand new and ever needed one before) no criminal record whatsoever AND a monthly income of $550 American dollars which is directly deposited in my account. At the airport they detained me (with no food or beverage) for over 7 hours. I cooperated with the officers and their demands. I also told them that I was type 2 diabetic and my other health conditions and during my entire detainment they NEVER gave me any of my medications even though I asked repeatedly for them. They questioned me over and over, then asked if I would give my fingerprints and photo which I did with no objections. They tried to tell me that I didn't have enough money to pay for my stay while here even though I have no bills to pay while here as I would be staying with my fiancee. They were going to deport me so I filed for asylum as my ex husband told me that if he found me he would kill me (he was very abusive and I have pictures and scars to prove that) also my fiancee also heard my ex threaten me. I told them in my application that I was not saying that the US was unsafe but that it was unsafe for me. Thankfully my fiancées friend acted as a security for me as did my fiancé. I was granted immigration bail and was told to check in at the Home office in Liverpool which I did. When I checked in I was given another appointment to check in February and heard nothing more until today when I got the letter requesting the photos. I have never had a hearing but I did put In numerous complaints to the appropriate people about how I was treated by the immigration officers. Sorry for the long post but wanted you to know my details. I was treated like a common criminal and believe that the Home Office officials should learn to be more diplomatic to honest people who cooperate and just want to be with their love ones (and in my case not be in fear of my life).
Thank you again for your help.
Cheers
Kim

Thank you, I too hope that is the case, I just dont understand how they can make a decision without an interview. This whole situation has not helped my mental health issues at all. One last question sorry if I sound ignorant but what does BRP stand for?

You’re an American citizen??

Surely there is no chance of you obtaining asylum.

Why can’t you live elsewhere in the US away from your abusive ex? Or apply for entry via another route (I.e Tier 2 visa)?

My Asylum Claim UPDATED

Post by Kimeva24 » Thu Oct 08, 2020 12:23 am

Well it's been almost 2 years since I have done my biometrics at The Post Office in Liverpool and nothing.
Some woman from the Asylum Claim department called about 3 months ago and asked if I was willing to give permission for her to talk to my Dr. I explained that as long as she sent a letter I would look it over, and if I felt it was in order indeed give permission. Well she sent the letter and it was fine so I gave it to my GP and told him it was OK to talk to her about my physical and mental health issues.
I heard nothing until 3 days ago. I received an email from the Home Office with this attachment

"Thank you for your application for permission to stay in the UK.
As part of your application you must have your biometrics (scanned fingerprints
and photograph) taken.
If you do not give your biometric information your application will be rejected as
invalid. This will apply even if you have provided all the other relevant
information, documentation and payment to validate your application.
You now have 45 working days from the date of this notification in which
to make and attend an appointment at a United Kingdom Visa Application
Service (UKVCAS) location and enrol your biometric information.
You can do this by returning to your online application and following the
instructions to book an appointment at a UKVCAS, or if you have already
registered a UKVCAS account you can access this account to book an
appointment.
Once you have booked your appointment, please make every effort to
attend. If you do not book an appointment and enrol your biometric information
and provide the required documents your application may be rejected as invalid.
If there are particular circumstances that mean you are unable to make an
appointment to enrol your biometric information within the specified time frame,
you must call 08000 55 63 55 and explain why you are unable to do so. We
may request more information and evidence about why you are unable to enrol
your biometric information.
If you no longer want to continue with your application, please visit this
link https://www.gov.uk/cancel-visa
The next section sets out how to make a biometric enrolment appointment, and
what you can expect when you attend.
Yours sincerely"

My question is this with all the scams going on since Covid hit, does this seem like the type of attachment that the Home Office normally sends?
I STILL haven't had even ONE Asylum hearing and I have been in the UK for 2 years and 3 months.
I will of course be calling the Home Office tomorrow to be sure that this woman did in fact send this email. Because when I went to the website all the open appointments cost at minimum £69. I hope it is true, fingers crossed, but of course me being an American I am naturally skeptical.
Also If I do get a BRP with permission to stay, what EXACTLY does that mean? Is there an expiration date, would it be an Indefinite Leave to Stay? My partner and I have been living together, as husband and wife, for over two years and hope to get married. If anyone could help clarify any of this for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Kym

Ok well found out it was an actual email and attachment. So I've booked my appointment and I guess just have to wait and see what happens,as this is the third time I've done my biometrics and still in limbo.
