Tier 2 general (shortage occupation)

Post by sakthiv » Tue Nov 27, 2018 11:14 pm

I have a Tier 2 general which was processed in Nov 2016 and as per the COS my job code is 2136. When I try to apply a Tier 2 general dependent visa for my spouse I see that there is a new category - shortage occupation. I also see there is a link which details the list of job codes under shortage occupation but the trouble is my COS doesn't say if I come under this shortage occupation category as this seems to be introduced recently. Under 2136 (Programmers and software development professionals) I see that jobs under the following job code are qualified as shortage occcupation : Senior developer employed by a qualifying company, where the job requires a person with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience and demonstrable experience of having led a team. When I joined my employer and got my general visa I had more than 5 years of experience and my employer had a labour market test done. So could someone please clarify how do I know if I fall under this shortage occupation category?

My COS says - Tier 2 (General - New hires - restricted)

with job type - 2136 Programmers and software development
professionals

Does this fall under Shortage occupation category. Since I am not seeing any Yes/No options for shortage occupation in my COS.

You are mistaken, it is not a "recent" introduction. SOC 2136 is on both shortage and non shortage list.

Your is likely non shortage if Rlmt was required.

Only specific industries and qualifying companies can sponsor 2136 as shortage. See link below.
