english test for extension uk spouse visa

Dear sir / madam,
I have ILR and my wife is living as a spouse since December 2014. Her visa is due to extension in january 2019. I would be great full if you advise if she needs to pass English test or not. I heard she will not need english test but when i am browsing ukvi website it says english language requirement.

She needs English A2 level for her extension.

What did she use for her first spouse visa?
Char (CR001 not Casa)
