I had to repost this post as it was hidden under a tow joined threads with different title
I applied in 2011 for ILR after 14 years overstay but granted DLR for three years as I had a gap of missing correspondence of two years.
I applied after three years for 3 years extensions but I did a mistake by ticking the wrong checkbox so after unsuccessful two appeals I had to make a new application and granted three years visa.
Now I am not sure whether to apply for ILR or just another extension because of the break between the two DL visas
Now I've been to the UK more than 21 years.
Just me by the way, running a business
This is main content of the last letter I received as quoted:
You should apply for an extension to of stay, explaining the basis on which you are seeking to remain longer. Any application will be considered in the light of the circumstances prevailing at that time.
Where an extension of Discretionary leave is sought, the request will be subject to an active review.
A person will not be eligible for settlement until they have completed 6 years of Discretionary Leave.
If you application to extend is refused, you will be advised of the reasons for this and any appeal against that decision.
Application form FLR(0) must be used if you are applying for an extension of Discretionary Leave(DL) where you have been previously granted a period of DL but have not previously been refused asylum or granted less than four years Exceptional Leave.
Application form DL must be used to apply for an extension of Discretionary Leave where you have previously been refused asylum but granted DL less than four years Exceptional Leave.
Thanks
