PBS Dependent Extension- confusing part

Post by Namekotris » Sat Apr 27, 2019 12:53 pm

Hi Team. I am a dependent of a Tier 2 General (now holding ILR). I am currently doing my Extension application and towards the end, i am seeing that my VISA ROUTE is PBS dependent Tier 1,2 and 5 which is correct. HOWEVER, it auto populated the VISA TYPE as Tier 2 Shortage 3yrs or less. I am confused because While it is true that my husband is in a shortage occupation whilst he was in his Tier 2 days, i am currently working in a non shortage job, aside from the fact that there was nowhere in the earlier part of the application was I asked to answer a visa type.

Pls enlighten me on this. Thank you

It is your spouse previous visa category that is relevant and not your employment as a dependent.

Thanks. Still, the question persists, why did the system automatically classify my Visa Type as Tier 2 shortage occupation less than 3 yrs?

If that is what your partner was on previously, it would do that.

Dependent Visa Extension - double IHS

Post by Namekotris » Fri May 03, 2019 11:42 pm

Good day.

We are on the process of paying for the health surcharge of my partner however it keeps on giving us an amount of 2400 instead of 1200. It seems like it is charging for us both when in reality, I already have an ILR and it’s only my husband who is renewing his dependent visa.

As guide, I am non-British but do have an ILR since August 2018. My husband is applying for dependent visa extension from where he originally got it whilst I was still on tier 2 years ago.

I am thinking if we are doing something wrong or it is how it is and we just ask for a refund after.

Correct IHS fee should be £1000. You should select apply alone and put expiry of ILR as 3 years to calculate the correct amount of IHS.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

It is £1200 for IHS. Put your ILR expiry date as 3 years from now, ie. 2022.
