uk fiance visa with spelling mistake

Post by leewts » Wed Jul 03, 2019 8:18 pm

Hi could someone please give me an opinion, me and my fiance have been waiting for her visa to arrive which after nearly 60 working days it finally turns up today so taking the advice of not booking the flight until we had the visa in hand we immediately booked her flight to the uk within 20 mins of her collecting her passport then 15 mins after flight booked she realized a spelling mistake on her name . so she went back to VFS who then took the passport back without any guarantee that it would be back in time for her flight on 11/7/19. I have called the home office help line at £1.50 per minute who went through the details and have said its a mistake made by them as details on the computer were correct but again couldn't also guarantee they could rectify this in time for her flight , my question is if they can not rectify this error could i claim for the loss of the air line ticket? any thoughts are appreciated

She could still be able to travel to UK and it could have been much more better that you ask its rectification after she arrived or you can even rectify it later when switching to spouse visa.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks for the reply i thought they may of given her that option but they took the passport off her. I thought maybe if they wrote her an letter explaining it was them at fault and could rectify in uk would of been a simple solution but again this does not seem to of been an option.Would the home office be liable for the money for flight if they cant sort out visa?

Not really no. I am fairly certain her letter would have told her to check everything is in order and what to do if it is not.
