Unmarried Partner Visa - Forgotten/lost NI number

Hi

I hope this is in the correct board

I am in the process of applying for the unmarried visa with my British partner. There is a question asking for my NI number, but since it has been over 6 years since I worked there and I didn’t receive a card at the time, I do not have access to my number. The time it will take to have it sent is to long unfortunately and it won’t let me add “not available” in the field. Obviously if I say I don’t have one then that is untruthful.

Any advice on how I should possibly proceed would be greatly appreciated.

ADDED: I also noted an old thread about the same issue was posted but the resolution/best way to proceed, was never posted and it is now locked unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply.

Have applied to go through that route, but is going to be cutting it fine time wise. Thought I’d see if anyone else has had the same issue and how theyve gone about it/if there’s a way around that field

Do you not have any old payslips or P60s or P45s?? This would contain your NI number.

I will eventually get my number sent to me, it was just that we are running low on time is all, so couldn’t really wait around.

However, I ended up paying and contacting the HMRC for a second time, after receiving little help the first time, and was advised to answer NO in the field that asks if I have an NI number, then in the ‘Additional Information’ field at the end, explain that it is Forgotten/Lost and is in the process of being retrieved .

I have done that so will try advise here of the outcome.

RESOLUTION: fortunately my number ended up getting sent out after just 4 working days as opposed to the 10-15 I was told it will take, so can just add this to my application and carry on
