Submitting application for UK Ancestry Visa from inside UK

Hi all,

Few questions regarding applying for a UK ancestry visa:

1. I’m currently visiting the UK staying with my boyfriend who is a British citizen (I am an Australian citizen). I have started my online application for an Ancestry Visa but am holding off submitting. My plan was to submit the application online while I’m in the UK and once selecting my Biometric appointment I would fly back to Aus to attend the appointment. Is this possible? Or will I have to submit the online application from Aus also?

2. From my understanding it is not at all possible to have my Biometrics taken in the UK applying as an Australian citizen. Am I correct?

What you can and cannot do
You can:

work
study
bring family members
You cannot:

change (‘switch’) into this visa if you’re already in the UK on another visa
get public funds

Thank you for the response. I understand I can not apply for or switch to an ancestry visa (I’m only here on a 6 month visitor) while I’m in the UK. What I’m asking is if I am able to submit the online application while I’m here using my Australian address and book my biometrics appointment for when I’m back on Australia?

Yes its possible but while the application will be in process you might not be allowed to enter as a visitor.

You need to state all previous travel to the UK in the form including dates. You won't be able to complete this if you are currently in the UK.
