Finace Visa Vignette wording

Post by afdales » Wed Jan 15, 2020 3:11 pm

Hi all,

My Fiance has obtained a 6 month visa in order to come to the UK and we wish to marry and go on to get IDLR in 5 years time.

Her visa states "Type: D- PARTNER (STANDARD) standard " then my name

Trying to arrange giving notice of marriage the registrar says that this visa is not a marriage/fiance visa and we need home office permission to marry. :(

My understanding is there is a "Marriage Visitor Visa" - but you have to leave the UK after marrying and that there isn't actually "Fiance Visa" any more, what you actually get is a "Family Visa" for six months.

My question is - is the wording on her visa correct? If not, what should it say?

Thanks for any comments or information!

Are you sure that is what they said or did they simply state they have to inform HO so you can get permission, which is the standard procedure regardless.

There is a 'fiance visa', clearly stated on the UKVI website. It is the sub category of the Settlement visa group.

How much did you pay for the visa??

See page 8 of the link below.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... _ecb13.pdf

Last page of the link also states :
Vignette Category:
Cat A: For direct airside transit only
Cat B: For visitor-in-transit visas only
Cat C: For visit visas
Cat D: For visas and entry clearance in all other categories.
Char (CR001 not Casa)

Hi thanks for the response....

Yes the UK Gov web site mentions "fiance" but it is a sub category of "Family Visa" if I understand correctly.

The visa was applied for in Russia and cost £1530. It was applied for as "FM (Partner)" on the government web site.

We gave details of intended marriage plans and stated on the application our intention to marry. The visa has been granted for 6 months, BRP not required.

I see the page 8 you refer to, but the titles given are Settlement (33 months), Spouse (33 months), Marriage (6 months). None of these seems to correspond to what it says on the vignette "PARTNER (STANDARD)" and 6 months.

Thanks gain for your help.... :)

You should have taken the decision letter/email/notification as well which usually explain the type of visa.

Thanks for your reply. We didnt get a letter, just the visa (the application was in Russia) The only email said the visa was ready to collect, no indication at all the type. We havent had the Mariiage Notice interview yet... We were told over the phone and the registrar said she had asked her manager.

I got the impression she had not dealt with this type of visa ... she didnt know what a "Category D" visa meant...!

If the vignette says something like D - MARRIAGE/CP STANDARD SPONSOR NAME
APPLICANT NAME BELOW

This is correct endorsement as I know a friend who received this vignette and it was issued for 6 months.

Hope this answer your question.

Go in person there. A lot of time the information given over the phone is not correct/complete.

Thanks for your help..... It MAY be that if it says "marriage" it doesnt have to be referred to Home Office, but if it says "Partner" then it does...

We had to provide details of wedding on the application, so Im confused a bit. But maybe Im concerned about nothing.

Thanks again...
