FLR(M) - proof of income for 6 months?

Hi all,

I apologise if this question has already been asked, but I've read conflicting information on different websites and am hoping to get a little clarity.

I'm currently in the UK on a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. Since arriving, I've met a wonderful partner and the two of us are thinking of getting married and me switching to a Spouse visa.

The minimum income requirement combined is £18,600. My partner makes more than that on his own. I've been self-employed freelance since I arrived so my income has been sporadic and under the 18K limit. I get paid in cash most of the time so I don't have typical employer bank deposits. My question is:

Do we need to provide income statements for both of us, or is his sufficient since he makes over the minimum amount?

Further - and this is my anxiety speaking - if it's allowed and we only submit his information, would I look suspicious if I didn't submit mine?

If you mean bank statements then yes as these are mandatory.

I remember seeing on the government website we need to provide proof of cohabitation - bills that show we both live in the same address, but I can't find it anywhere on the government visa website anymore.

Can someone please confirm for me how many, which kind, and over how long a period we need to provide evidence for?

I've been unofficially living with him since November 2019 but I still have a flat under my own name where all my bills are sent (council tax, water, electricity), and I'm not on any of the bills at his house.

I've started a new job on 15th June (delayed 3 months thanks to Covid), and will receive my first pay on the 15th July. My salary alone doesn't meet the £18,600 minimum but combined with my partner, we surpass it.

Now bear with me here, as I think I may be overthinking/over-complicating things for myself:

If, for example, we get married on 20th November and submit our application right away, I will only have 5 months of pay slips (July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov). Is this next statement correct?: If I provide 6 months of bank statements (June - Nov), that is still fine because my partner's 6 month of bank statements (June - Nov) will have 6 months of pay slips, showing that combined we meet the minimum.

This leads me to a couple tangental questions:
1. Do we have to apply as soon as we get married? Or can we get married in November (for example), and apply in January 2021?
2. Do the bank statements have to be before we're married or simply before the application is submitted?

Again, I think I may be over-complicating this but I could really use some clarification.

Since your leave is due to expire in Feb 2021, there's no rush for you to apply straightaway so I will apply in December when you have completed 6 months with your employer and have received 6 months payslips covering those period relying upon.

Are you salaried or Non salaried because that's key in terms of calculating your income to see if you both meet the financial requirement.

Proofs of cohabitation aren't required for first phase of spouse visa (flrm). Any recent proof of addresses either jointly or individually addressed will serve the purpose.

You only need to provide financial evidence relating to your sponsor if he solely meets the requirement on his own.

If you wish then yes you can but to support your proofs of cohabitation. But his corresponding bank statements will pivotally be required.
