Child born in UK query

Post by akapav » Fri May 22, 2020 6:25 pm

Hello,

I will be applying for my wife's FLR(M) visa in 1 and half years time. We are expecting our first child in early July 2020. My understanding is that because I am a British Citizen, our child will also be a British Citizen from birth and will not be subject to the financial requirement as a dependant child.
My query is when our child is born, how do I make sure our child is registered as a British Citizen?
Another query I have is that my British passport is going to expire in June 2020 and I am about to renew it but my concern is that when our child is born, I may not receive my new passport in time, how would this impact registering our child as a British Citizen? Will I be able to use my old passports and UK birth certificate to prove I and our child are British Citizens?

Thank you for any help.

No need to register the child as British. Child is automatically British and simply applies for a passport once you have the broth cert.

You seem to be confusing the birth registration at the council registry with a completely different process of registering a child as british citizen, the latter NOT relevant to you.

Contact the registry office to find out what is required when you register the birth to get the birth certificate.

What you should take
If you can register the birth, you should take at least one form of identification when you go to the register office. You can use:

passport
birth certificate
deed poll
driving licence
proof of address (for example, a utility bill)
Council Tax bill
marriage or civil partnership certificate
You should also take your child’s personal child health record or ‘red book’ as some registrars may ask to see it.

Thank you for all of your replies.

I have another quick query, I have recently started a new job and I have enrolled into the company's pension and share save schemes. Do the deductions from the pension and share save schemes on my payslips affect my gross pay when calculating the financial requirements?

I do apologise if I have posted this incorrectly.

Thank you in advance.

There is no explicit explanation about it in the official guidance Appendix fm 1.7. However, as per few member's experiences the caseworker deduct these from the gross income when undertake their calculations.
