Lawful residency requirements

Post by Danuk123 » Tue Jun 16, 2020 11:25 pm

Hi all

I am a EU settled resident who have been in the UK for ten years - i have been working the last 3 years continuously and wanted to see what the 5 years residency requirement mean

1- does it mean being present in the UK for 5 continues years regardless if you were or not working

2- or does it mean being working continuously for 5 years (classified as worker ) or if not working being self sufficient with comprehensive insurance ( which I didn’t have in the timeframe I was not working)

Which is the requirement for residency ? Number 1 or number 2 of the options I gave above?

Thanks so much for your kind help
Dan

Your point 1) applies - your economic activity is irrelevant - employment is not a pre-requisite. And note it is the five years immediately preceding your application.

Great thanks so much

So for example in 2016 I was not working and was self sufficient but never got the comprehensive sickness insurance. I never knew this was necessary until now.

In that case can I still apply for citizenship ? In some parts it says it is a requirement

Thanks
Daniel

This is being discussed in this thread:
british-citizenship/csi-and-settle-stat ... 01196.html
If you apply you will have to answer the relevant question on CSI - so far there has been no feedback from applicants on their submissions - the caseworker guidance was updated only in mid-May.

1. You upload after you have submitted and paid for online application form. You will be directed to the ukcvas sopra steria website to upload.

2. Files size is 6mb each. There are various categories to upload into.

Citizen application but no appointments

Post by Danuk123 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:30 pm

Dear all

As you know we have this issue of the appointment to check the biometric information - I completed my application and paid the fee on Saturday I also uploaded and sent all documents including referee declarations.

The application said that I must book and attend appointment before September 11 - so what should I do? I haven’t received any email or anything and calling is imposible last time i had 26 people in queue

Have you had any experience in solving this ?

Thanks
Daniel

No one will be penalised or lose their money due to delayed biometrics. UKVI and UKCVAS is dealing with a massive backlog.

Keep checking for appointments and keep checking email (and spam/junk folder).
