FLR (M) Spouse Visa Extension questions

Post by seahorse8 » Sat Apr 18, 2020 1:36 pm

I will be extending my FLR (M) Spouse Visa this October and have a few questions.

1) Hopefully the visa centres will be open again October. If they are, and if I choose to go to a visa centre to have my documents scanned, is this also when my biometrics are taken, or is that done on a different day? Also if I choose the priority service, is this also on the same day, or do I have to go again for this on another day? I'm wondering if it would be one, two, or three appointments in total?

2) For my English language ability I am using my Master's degree which I completed here in the UK. Do I still need to provide a statement from NARIC? I didn't for my Fiance Visa and first Spouse Visa applications, but I was checking the Gov UK website and it doesn't really make a distinction between degrees taught in the UK and overseas, it just says, "When you apply, you’ll need to provide a certificate from UK NARIC". I guess I don't, but just want to check in case the guidance/regulations have changed since last time.

3) I meet the financial requirement with my own income. Do I still need to include my husband's payslips, P60s etc? Is he still my 'sponsor'? Would it strengthen my case if I included his as well?

4) Are all of the links in the 'Guidance' topic the most up-to-date?

1. Usually everything is being done on same day.
2. UK master degree would be sufficient without having the need to reassess it from NARIC
3. You can use your own income and can skip your husband income
4. Yes but also keep an eye on ukvi news

Can I start the online application form now, even though I won't be sumitting it until October? Will it allow me to keep saving it and going back to it until then?

No, it is too early. Applications only remain live for 6 to 10 weeks before they are deleted.

I couldn't find this answered sorry. When I'm uploading things like my passport and marriage certificate, can I just scan the originals in, or do I need to get copies signed by someone like a solicitor and upload those as well?

No certification/notarisation of documents is required rather a simple scan of originals is needed. And if they want to investigate authenticity of these documents then they will use their own sources of investigation or will refer back to you.

Do my most recent payslip and my most recent bank statement both have to be dated within 28 days of the application date? Regarding the bank statement, I will probably have to go to my branch and ask them to print out my most recent statement - is this acceptable as long as they stamp it?

Great, thank you. So just to be clear, I'll be applying for my extension in October... I could order my other bank statements online now, and then go to my branch and they could print out and stamp my statements for July to October around the time I submit my application? It won't matter that my other statements will be dated July/August if I order these now? I'm worried about waiting until September/October to order them and them getting stuck in the post!

I am thinking of submitting my online application on Saturday 24th October, after I have been paid on Friday 23rd October (current Spouse visa expires 14th November). Regarding the 6 months payslips and bank statements, does this mean I would have to provide them for the 6 months immediately before October, so April, May, June, July, August, September, as well as October (so 7 payslips in total)?

Also when I submit the online application, do I have to upload anything at that point, such as a copy of my passport? I plan to take all supporting documents to a visa centre and have them upload them for me there, but am just wondering if there is anything at all I have to upload with the application itself?

Not if you plan to have them scanned at the centre.

It's usually one or the other.

Thanks Korekt.

Again sorry if this has already been answered but I can't find it... do I need to show evidence of my relationship with my husband and our marriage like I did for my first Spouse Visa, e.g. photos together? We don't really have many Whatsapp conversations or phone calls as we live and work together!

Yes but photos wont be needed rather same marriage certificate and 2 years of cohabitation evidences.

Thanks seagul. Do you know if the cohabitation evidence/correspondence falls under evidence of marriage/relationship, or evidence of accommodation, or are there not really defined categories? Just trying to sort my documents and do a 'contents' page.

Thanks seagul, I hadn't seen that.

Do you know if correspondence has to have an exact date on it, or is just the month and the year okay?

Also would the following sources be acceptable?

Letter from work
Travel insurance quote (Asda Money)
City Council confirming husband has been added to electoral register
NHS cover letter for EHIC card

Exact date shouldn't be mandatory as many letters from banks/service providers only contain the month & year.

Thank you very much seagul for your help. Sorry, one more thing for now... I have read that online statements are acceptable, e.g. online phone bills and bank statements. Are these still acceptable if I intend to print them and take them to the visa centre for them to scan, or would they only be accepted if I was uploading the PDF files and all of my documents myself at home? I hope this wouldn't be a problem if I print them out.

Yes these would be acceptable and can be uploaded to ukvcas site directly without printing as these won't be asked if you have opted "self upload" option at earlier.

Self upload to have full control as what have been uploaded and what left.
