1. Add a covering letter pointing out this mistakeCristina88 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 5:08 pmHi Respected Gurus, Moderators,
I have some questions if you can please answer:
1) When asked if you have other names. I changed my surname post marriage (10 years ago) so I answered Yes and gave my old surname. In my last application for T2G, I gave the same as previous name. However, when I renewed earlier for this question I answered No for any other name. Will there be an issue (hope not as I gave other name in my last application and no issues happened) ?
2) In the question: What is the ownership status of your home (I own it, Rent it, Live with Family, Other) ?
I have mortgage on this property along with my spouse. Shall I still answer as "I Own it" or "Other" and write it is with mortgage from X bank ?
3) My first T2G has vignette on 6 Oct 15 and BRP date on 8 Oct 15 with Entry on 17 Oct 15.
Do I have to mention 8 - 17 as absence from UK (time between BRP date and Entry)?
4) The absence dates that we have to mention should be in line with the flight tickets or passport stamps ? For example, when we go to Australia, flight ticket will show 1 Jan 20 from London arrival 2 Jan 20 in Sydney. But Australia stamp will only show 2 Jan 20 in passport.
5) Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK including your country of birth?
In answer to this, do I need to mention my previous stay in UK on visitor visa or Tier 2 ICT dependent visa in the past?
Apologies for many questions & Thanks a lot for your time & patience.
Thank you
I will still add a covering letter/use additional info section (if available) to admit & clarify this mistake for being coverage in all scenarios especially at ILR stage where all present & priorly supplied information is rigorously checked.Cristina88 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 1:49 pmSorry as I got conflicting answers, want to clarify:
1) Even though in my last T2G application as I mentioned my pre-marriage name-surname, I should still clarify in a cover letter for not doing it the time before ?
If no space for additional information, write a cover letter and upload along with other documents.Cristina88 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 6:07 pmHi Respected Gurus, Moderator,
Human Angels CR001, Zimba,
1) As was suggested, for clarity on name change, I will put it on the Additional information. But I couldn't find any section where I can put additional information in the end. Can you advice where can I put it ?
FYI, just to remind,
- I am putting my old name in ILR application
- I put my old name in last T2G application when I changed sponsor
- My solicitor didnt put my old name in T2G application when I renewed T2G
- In my first T2G application there was no question on old name
--> I never travelled to UK with old name and name change happened 5 years before my current ILR period.
2) This is what I plan to write, please check if this looks fine?
Name change due to marriage in 2010: I want to inform you that I changed my name after my marriage on XX XXX XXXX. I confirm that I have never travelled to the UK on my old name. My name before marriage was "XXXX" and my name after marriage, which is my current name is "YYYY".I have informed this in my current application for ILR and in the past applications to the best of my knowledge.
Thanks a lot again, and again
Address simply to Home Office.Cristina88 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:02 amHi all ,
Can you please help me who to address the cover letter for my ILR application?
Also, there was a post explaining step by step what happens once we pay and submit the application in current scenario (upload docs, app, biometrics etc). It was by a mod/senior member and was very very useful. I am not able to find it. Can someone please point me to that please I want to understand the process after payment.
Thanks a lot !!!!
I thought to share as this post may help new applicants joining the forum or applicants from August and onwards. Also it may answer some frequently asked questions.
Steps to follow after completing the form online:
Step 1: Pay and submit application via UKVI.
Tip: Date of application is the date you pay and submit online, biometrics date is irrelevant.
Step 2: After payment, you will reach “further actions page.” If you click on “book an appointment,” system will reroute you to create an account on UKVCAS where you can upload your documents and book an appointment.
Tip: You are sent an access code to set up an account on UKVCAS which usually lands up in Junk folder.
Booking an appointment is opening up in phases. Check the UKVCAS flash message for updates.
https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/flash-message- ... geId=74833
Step 3: Booking an appointment/IDV app
Next step will be communicated to you via email; either you will be chosen to attend the biometrics appointment OR UKVI will reuse your biometrics from a previous application.
If you fall under the latter group, you will have to wait for IDV app to launch to provide your facial image (which is expected to launch in August).
Tip: You are given a deadline to submit your biometrics on the further actions page. Ignore that, you will not be penalised even if you can not fulfil it.
Step 4: Now you can submit your documents to UKVI via UKVCAS portal even before your biometrics. The option usually appears when you have uploaded all your documents, sign out and sign in again. The option can be found on the “document upload page” right at the bottom.
Note: You can only submit once, so make sure your documents are complete before you submit.
You will be able to add more documents via your appointment/IDV app on a later stage whatever your circumstance be.
Tip: The best approach would be to benefit from the new feature.
Note: For certain categories/cases, the CW may request for the documents to be submitted via email. It does not matter if you already have submitted via UKVCAS portal, you can still submit documents via email if requested.
Step 5: Once the process as stated above is completed, you should wait for a decision.
Tip: Be vigilant and regularly check your email as all communication for next steps will be sent via email.
Covering letter even can be addressed as "To whom it May concern"Cristina88 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:02 amHi all ,

No, you are overthinking. Will this cause any discrepancy ?
Cristina88 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 2:17 pmHi Gurus, Mods, Senior members,
I received employer letter and have some questions as it didnt look perfect. The letter reads:
“We further confirm that Mrs Marsh’s position with us is permanent and this employment will continue for another two years from 31st Dec 2020.
The following are dates detailing her approved absence from the UK and also specifying reason of absence. Please note that she is paid full time salary during the below mentioned period.”
Q1: The letter reads “employment will continue for another 2 years from 31 Dec 2020” , is it fine? Or we ask them to be changed to “foreseeable future” if that is better ? 2 years down the line is still within the purview of 'foreseeable future' but if you can get them to change it to what you want for your peace of mind then go ahead.
Q2: In the letter they ONLY mentioned the leave in which I went out of UK. They didn’t mention 1 to 3 days leaves in which I was in UK only. Is that fine? Or they should mention ALL the leaves including when I was in UK ?
Thanks a lot
Thanks a lot for quick response, and for the absence letter. Do they have to list only absences from UK or all individual days when I took day off but was in UK only? At the moment, they have only mentioned holiday in which I went out of UK.Cristina88 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 2:17 pm

Or in short, does the employer absence letter only mention leaves/holidays out of UK or it has to mention ALL the leaves during which I was in UK?Cristina88 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 5:50 pmThanks a lot for quick response, and for the absence letter.
