Immigration Health Surcharge for spouse application

Post by rashidsaifur » Sun Oct 25, 2020 12:21 am

I am going to apply for extension under FLR (FM) category. My visa is valid until 6 December 2020. As the IHS charge is going to increase from 27 October, I wonder whether I can pay my IHS charge before 27 October 2020 and apply for my visa online on 8 November 2020. I would be very grateful if any of the moderators could shade some light on this tricky area.

An FLRM extension can be applied after 30 months minus 28 days from the date of arriving to UK, and most likely you might have already been reached to that point now. However, if that isn't the case, then still you can apply before 27 October and book your appointment after 6 December. Remember, date of the submission of the application is the date of application and biometrics can be enrolled even after the expiry.

Hi Seagull, Thanks a lot for your very useful suggestion. I am just trying to get it right. As the law says I can apply 28 days before the expiry of my visa expiry, it comes 8 November 2020 as the latest date I can apply for my visa (due to the fact that my visa is valid until 6 November 2020). However, the IHS surcharge is going to increase from tomorrow. Would that be acceptable by the law if I pay the IHS today and submit my application 8 November 2020?

As outlined by seagul, you can apply, pay and submitt now, then book your biometrics appointment after 6 Nov. 2020. Clear now?
