BRP Validity query. It valid for longer than the visa term is supposed to be..

Post by Londondreams0309 » Tue Nov 24, 2020 8:23 pm

Hello everyone!

I have a question regarding visa validity. I recently moved to the UK on a work visa. I collected my BRP and noticed that the VALID UNTIL date is a year longer than the actual duration that the visa is supposed to be.

Why is this so? Has this ever happened to anyone?

My friend's opinion is that I've done everything right and the error is on the Home Office's part so now they must give me the extra time that's been mentioned on my BRP.

I would really appreciate it if someone can share their experience or give me some advice on this?

You need to state the type of that visa?

If there is an error, you must report it. If an error, the brp won't match ho records, the latter being the one that determines overstay or not.

Stop listening to friends, it could cause you to overstay in the UK for a year!!

What was the duration and dates of the cos?

Thanks for your reply.

It's the innovator visa. The letter that I had received with my passport (with entry vignette) said valid for 5 years but on my BRP it says 4 years 2 months. Not sure what's happened and why the mismatch. Everything else on my BRP is correct including my personal details and the type of permit.

You need to report the error then.

You first said the brp was issued for longer by a year, now you state the brp is shorter by 10 months at 4 years 2 months?? Which is it?

Sorry about the confusion. What I meant was that the Innovator visa is normally issued for 3 years so my BRP (4 years 2 months) is definitely longer than that. But it's shorter than what was mentioned on the confirmation letter (5 years) that I received with my passport.

Sorry for the multiple messages.

When I had first received the confirmation letter stating a 5 year leave, I had assumed it to be in error. I thought maybe the BRP will have the correct term allowed under the Innovator visa (normally 3 years). But that also turned out to be longer than 3 years but less than what was mentioned in my letter.

I've just reported the issue to the Home Office using their online form.

Do you think I could really be entitled to a 5 year leave as initially mentioned in the letter?

Thanks in advance any insights you can provide! I would really appreciate it!
