BRP card but not stamp in the Passport Can I Travel Back

My Husband is an Indian and I am British He has 2,5 year visa and BRP since November 2020 however no any stamp in his passport .
Can he travel to India and come back without any sticker in his passport or he needs a Visitor Visa before leaving India >

His BRP card is his visa!!

I am overthinking as I was turned away from Indian immigration at the airport and refused entry on basis of wrong visa
very expensive mistake
