Schengen visa queries

Post by dewdrops1420 » Fri Apr 07, 2023 7:42 pm

Hi,

Could someone please answer my below queries.

I submitted an application for Schengen visa for duration more than an year. They asked me to enter the family details if I'm travelling with them and I entered my spouse and kids details but they never asked me the passport number of the family except mine.
1.So should I submit separate application for spouse and kids?
2.I have booked a holiday to visit Disneyland Paris and the holiday partner has issued a travel insurance for that trip alone. Should I take a travel insurance for more than an year as I have applied for a visa more than an year? If so, could you please give me some pointers?
3.I applied for more than an year as I intend to visit other Schengen countries and since France is my first destination, I'm applying in French visa site. Is that correct way?
4.My daughter has applied for British passport but have not received it yet(applied in Sep 2022 but they said it will be delayed) and I understand that she don't need the visa as she is going to be only 5 years old in May. But her Indian passport will expire in 09/07/2023 and our date of travel is 03/06/23 .Will that be a problem? Rest of us hold ILR in UK.
5.How to take appointment for documents submission. After application submission, got an email, but no information about appointment booking.

Thanks

Yes. The applications are individual.

No. They expect you to sort it out each time you have a new trip.

What do you mean by "do not need the visa if she's 5"? If you're using her Indian passport for this, she will most likely be treated as an Indian national and needs a visa.
In terms of validity - it's an issue; passports usually need to be valid 3 (or 6, can't remember) months before you leave the Schengen area.

Depends on where the application is processed. Most likely you need to go to the TLS website.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.
It was written in a site that I do not have to pay the visa fees for my daughter as she is below 6 years but she needs to attend the appointment. Is that not the case?
Also will her Indian passport expiry in July be a problem?

In the application form, it's written , TRAVEL HEALTH INSURANCE
For stays in France up to 6 months : UK-insured reciprocal healthcare entitlement documents (valid EHIC /
GHIC). For stays over 6 months : Private Health insurance covering the entire validity of the visa (up to 1
year), except for retirees receiving a British retirement pension who may provide the S1 Form delivered by
the NHS.

Is it fine to present our travel insurance for the Disney trip which is just for the duration of the trip?

Thanks

It doesn't mean she doesn't need a visa. She still needs to apply and all.

Yes.
https://visas-fr.tlscontact.com/faq/gb/ ... s-faq-1129
Check the expiration date on your passport.
For a short stay visa (less than 90 days), the expiration date must be no earlier than 3 months after the date of your return from the Schengen Area;
For a renewal of circulation visa, the expiration date must be 15 months after the day you apply for a visa;
For a regular long stay visa (more than 90 days), the expiration date must be 15 months after your planned return date back to the UK.

It is fine. Your stay is the amount of a Disney trip in this case.

Also you might be not being completely correct in using your Indian passport, but that's just a side note.
https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/page/surre ... -passport/
There is a grace period of three months after acquisition of foreign nationality (to be counted from the date of registration / Naturalisation Certificate and not from the date of foreign passport) for using Indian passport for travel. But the grace period is not applicable once the British/Foreign Passport is acquired, he/she should travel only on the British/Foreign passport once the same is obtained even if he/she is within the grace period of three months.

Irrelevant: you're not waiting for British passport, you're waiting for registration - two different things (british-citizenship/british-citizenship ... 36715.html).

You can call to a third party call center, which is not staffed by UKVI employees, which I don't think will help - people reported numerous instances fo getting incorrect information.

Your best bet is to wait and prepare for your trip assuming she'll be Indian before the trip, which would entail renewing her passport and applying for a visa, as there's no guarantee you'll receive an outcome at a certain date.

You could try emailing one or all of these email addresses listed here: british-citizenship/nationality-enquire ... l#p2093594

You could call the UKVI contact centre: https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside- ... thing-else

Note, as advised above this helpline is a third party operation, not staffed by caseworkers, they have no access to case files and can't put you through to caseworkers, maybe they'll take a message. But try anyway.

Do both parents need ILR for a child to apply for British citizenship even though she is born in UK?The rule said
You were born on or after 1 January 1983
You may be eligible if either:

you’re under 18 and since your birth one of your parents became a British citizen, or got permission to stay in the UK permanently
you lived in the UK until you were 10 or older

Hence we applied with one parent having ILR and another one's ILR under process.

One of the parents got ILR in Nov 2022 and citizenship application biometric was in Oct 2022.

You have already been provided with details to contact.

You cannot expedite the application, you have already been told this. If you have been advised by ukvi that it will take longer, there isn't really anything you can do. A holiday to Europe is not an emergency or exceptional circumstance etc.

This is your mistake. You should have checked the Schengen requirements against your daughters passport expiry.
