Hi alterhase and Everyone,
Thank you for your continuous support.
If one parent has a British citizenship (passport not yet applied), can the rest of the family apply for naturalisation immediately?
Just to remind, Spouse and 5 Children (2 adults and 3 children) got ILR on 14/Feb/2025.
Also, kindly provide the correct form links.
Cheers

Hi,
Finally, everything is in place for the ceremony. May I please ask a few things?
- Do we have to return the ILR BRP to the Home Office, as told us in the Atlas email? I heard it is no longer required, and it is a generic email they send.
There's no real guidance on this now that everything is eVisa.
Personally I wouldn't bother but of course you are free to send it.
- Should we return it before the ceremony or after?
You are British once you attended the ceremony - send it after.
- What if someone doesn't return any previous BRP but returns the final one? Is this going to be a problem?
They never asked for all BRPs so it should be the last one.
- Do we ever need the BRP again for any purposes?
NO - BRPs were for people holding immigration status, not for British Citizens, you are free from immigration controls.
Last but not least, this group has been phenomenal (and continues to do so) throughout our journey here in the UK, and we are sure everyone has the same experience. Thank you for being the helping hand. A big thanks to the moderators and top contributors for their wonderful advice with great patience and clarity.
Cheers

You can travel while waiting for an outcome for naturalisation, as it is not an immigration application. You are advised against travelling before you apply and obtain a British passport once you attend the ceremony (it is at the ceremony that you become British, not when you receive the email) as your immigration status linked to your current passport will expire. Once you apply for your UK passport you will need to send all your current passports so you won't be able to travel.
