Visit visa rejected

Post by ssm2089 » Sat Oct 17, 2015 2:33 pm

Hi all,

I just got my visit visa application rejected. I had planned to go and visit my friends in the UK. The reason was given as insufficient funds. I showed 3 Lakhs worth of FD and also all my payslips and also a letter from my employer confirming my leave dates and my date of joining back.

Can anyone guide me as to what I should be doing next as I am lost

If it is £3000 in fixed deposits, I doubt the ECO would consider the amount as useful for the purpose of the visit as it is inaccessible/illiquid. The money would need to be in liquid form, such as in a current account. I am not aware if the money needs to be in an accessible account for any prescribed period of time, such as three months or six months. But, when for instance, one needs to apply for a work visa, one needs to show maintenance funds in a liquid, easily accessible account for a period of 90 days. FDs/accounts that require notice before access do not count for the purposes of maintenance funds.

Who is paying for the visit? If you yourself are paying for it, the funds needs to be sufficient to finance the whole trip. If it is your friends, you will need letters from your friends showing their willingness to finance the trip and their proof of funds.

I am sponsoring the entire trip. I thought £3,000 would be enough however as you say maybe I need to show liquidity. What if I get a letter from the bank saying the funds are free and can be easily accessible will that help?

I am not certain if the ECO would take such a letter into account. He may, but likely may not.

How much notice do you need to give for the FDs to be transferred to a current/checking account?

How long are you planning to stay in the UK?

I have been unable to find any rules about the length of time that the funds must stay liquid, so I assume that there is no such requirement. Also, I was unable to find any rules about the amount of funds required to be shown per day in the UK.

As a comparitor, applications for Tier 2 migration into the UK must show savings of atleast £900 in a freely accessible bank account for three months.

If it is a trip for 10 days and you have proof of return plans, such as return tickets, I would guess (I speak with no authority) that a bank letter on the lines that you described would be sufficient.

Hello all,

I reapplied on Thursday as said earlier and my passport has been dispatched today. My only worry is that the decision is taken so quickly, has anyone experienced this before.

Thanks for the update. I would have thought that a previous positive immigration history would have helped you as well.

Hey, don't think that was the reason as my first refusal the officer clearly said that he was aware of my travel history, but still did not give. What I think did the trick was the ticket.
