If you are not sure you are probably not yet integrated and ready for the privilege of citizenship. Its not just another 'visa'.Mary937 wrote:Hello,
Please kindly let me know advantages of having British passport and not staying on ILR. Would really appreciate your help.
Thank you.
ILR is just a visa status that is not permanent and can be lost.Mary937 wrote:I am fully integrated but my country does not allow dual citizenship. That's why I try to find out the difference between being on ILR or having British Citizenship in terms of benefits, applying for a mortgage, absences from the UK (as I think also to work in Arabic countries).... Thank you.
Suggest you do need to do some of the heavy lifting here.Mary937 wrote:Guys, how about British Citizenship? Could it be revoked if I spend 2 or more years outside of the UK please (for example for work in Arabic countries)? Thank you.
Yes, dual (triple etc etc).Mary937 wrote:Does UK allow dual citizenship please?
This is irrelevant if your country of birth/other nationality doesn't allow dual nationality.Mary937 wrote:Does UK allow dual citizenship please?
Congrats Mary937. Can you please let me know which date you applied? was it on 13th or 14th?Mary937 wrote:Yes Vinny, I was successful. Thanks a lot for all your help and CR001:-))
Britain is the best country in the World and you get to shout at foreigners in English extremely loudly instead of learning another language.Mary937 wrote:Thank you:-)) Anybody to add something to this list please?
You can vote in general elections and referendums as a ILR holder.but as a British citizen you can vote in general elections (and referendums )
