Tier-2 Child Almost 18

Post by layla1910 » Wed Feb 22, 2017 6:01 pm

I am in the UK on Tier-2 visa. My wife and son are abroad (Syria). My son will turn 18 on 4 April.
I want to apply for Tier-2 dependent visa for them very soon (before my son is 18). In the application form there is a question about the intended date of travel to the UK. Can we put that as June 2017 by that time my son will have turned 18 years?

technically speaking u can, as the visa can be applied 3 months in advance.
However, why would u want to risk everything for few months. he can get all the extensions once he is here even if he is older than 18.. provided he is here before he turns 18.
If i were u, and he gets the visa, i will bring him here and then send him back to finish whatever he wants to finish.. but would make sure he is here and that his application is successful.

Thanks for the good advice.

Our only concern is that he will have to stay in the UK until we are able to collect his BRP from the designated post office. He has to sit for his Baccalaureate (high school) exams on 15 May.

Any idea how long the BRP takes to be released by the post office once his entry clearance is approved?

Many thanks

normally it is pretty quick and people can collect it once they are here.
however, there have been cases where the biometrics have been delayed.

One more question please

What evidence should I provide to satisfy this paragraph?

319(H)I All arrangements of the child care and accommodation must comply with UK law

Many thanks

Thanks vinny. I currently live in a studio flat (bedsit). Is that OK to receive my wife and son (17 years) until the term of my tenancy in June. Or, should I rent another flat (2 or more rooms).

My landlord said he does not mind having my wife and son living with me and would add them to the tenancy agreement. But, I am not sure if that is enough.

Thanks

Is it capable of accommodating the couple, and any children, without overcrowding as defined in the Housing Act 1985?

Tier-2 Child School or College Arrangements

Post by layla1910 » Mon Feb 27, 2017 5:26 pm

Hello

My son is 17 years old, and willturn 18 years on 4 April. He lives with my wife abroad. I am preparing documents to apply for him and my wife to join me as Tier- 2 dependents. Since he is over 16 years, I have provided the following documents as evidence that he does not lead an independent life:

His bank statement showing his address
A medical joint medical insurance certificate for my wife and him showing his address and my wife's address (obviously we do not have NHS certificates in my counrty0
A Residence Record (a local government document certifying his address)
My wife Residence Record as well.

His school does not provide documents containing his address. They only provide a hand-filled A5 paper form certifying that he is enrolled as a student for the year 2016-2017. We may also be able to provide a transcript of his mid-year exams

Should we provide this school document as well?

We plan to set the date of travel on the application as 1 April 2017 (before he turns 18). as son as he collects his BRP, we intend to send him back to our home country to prepare and sit for the final exams.

My question, should we provide his schooling evidence and mention that he intends to go back to sit for his final exams? or will that be taken against us by the ECO.

Giving Birth in the UK

Post by layla1910 » Sun Mar 12, 2017 11:12 pm

I was with my husband as postgraduate students in the UK from 1991-1996. In 1992 I gave birth to a child in the UK. Now I am filling a Tier-2 partner application. What should I give as answer to have you ever received medical treatment in the UK?. The problem is that this has been 24 years ago and I cannot remember the information requested if I answer yes.

I think the answer would be 'yes', if you had received medical treatment in the UK. Put down what you do remember.

If we have already answered NO and submitted the application online. Can we explain in the attached letter that we could not fill in the details because we cannot remember the exact dates and places, and give a description of what we can remember?

Nonsense. Members do not have to respond if they choose not to.

Correct it on the printed copy by hand and write a note if you wish.
