Tier 2 (G) to ILR - 5 or 6 years?

Post by karenlee » Mon Apr 10, 2017 1:40 pm

Hey,

Here is my scenario:
Tier 4 Visa: Jan 2013 - May 2014
Tier 2 Visa (Sponsor A): May 2014 - May 2016
Change of Sponsor - Tier 2 Visa (Sponsor B): May 2016 - May 2017

I am now applying for Change of Sponsor again - my question is in this case should the CoS be:
May 2017 - May 2019
OR should it be:
May 2017 - May 2020?

Should the CoS be assigned for 2 years or 3 years? I've already been on Tier 2 (G) for 3 years - how much is left for me to apply for ILR?

Also, to be on the safe side, should my CoS end date be EXACTLY 5 or 6 years after my very first Tier 2 General visa start date which was May 12, 2014? Ex: if 5 years then: May 12, 2019

Thanks.

You cannot hold Tier 2 General for more than 6 years.

You only require 5 years residence in a qualifying visa category to apply for ILR.
