Tier 2 ICT to ILR

Post by RaviKothur » Wed Jun 14, 2017 11:17 pm

Hello,
I have entered UK on Mar -13-2016 on TIer 2 ICT Short term and left UK onFeb 26-2017.
And Entered UK for the second time on ICT Tier 2 Long term on May 13-2017 and my visa validity is till June 2022. Could you guys let me know if there is any possibility for me get an ILR in UK with the current Tier 2 ICT visa?.
If not what are the options available in relation to this?
examples are like moving to Tier 2 General or getting a PHD in studies etc.

Any info in this regard is highly appreciated

Regards
Ravi

No, ICT does not lead to ILR after 5 years.

Student visa also DOES NOT lead to ILR based on 5 years residence.

If you want tier 2 General, you will need to find a sponsor and apply from home country after a 12 month cooling off period. See below.

All visa count towards 10 years long residence. If this was your question, y9u should have stated it as the 10 year and 5 year routes have different rules and requirements.

For 10 year based ILR(Long Residence) you should not have more than 6 months continuous break with your UK stay
Any suggestions I make in the forum are out my personal experience and should not be taken as a legal/professional advise.

a. 10 years long residence if you qualify for a student visa. Your dependents however won't be able to apply for ILR with you on this route. They will have to switch to FLR(M) and meet all the requirements.

b. Spouse gets Tier 2 General if they qualify and you switch to Tier 2 Dependent.

c. You go home, wait 12 months and get a job with a Tier 2 Sponsor and start a new 5 years towards ILR.

You have not even been in the UK for 2 year yet. No one on the forum can tell you what the route you are thinking about will be in the future.

The route you are asking about is also not ILR.
